Life-Changing Programs
After School Education and Discipleship Programs transform vulnerable children with confidence and courage.
Education Platform:
Nourish, formerly ORPHANetwork, ensures that vulnerable children have access to intentional cognitive, emotional, and social development opportunities inclusive of academic performance enroute to realizing their full God-given potential.
By addressing awareness, enrollment, attendance, promotion, retention, and development, we aim to create an effective and empowering education route that maximizes opportunities for learners that build confidence, courage and academic foundations for future success.
Preschool
Access to quality preschool education plays a vital role in a child’s overall development and future academic success. However, in rural areas of Nicaragua, there exists a significant disparity in preschool enrollment rates compared to urban areas. Recent data from the Public School Ministry reveals that only 15% of parents in rural areas send their children to preschool.
Nourish program leaders and volunteers:
- Identify children ages 3-5 encourage them to enroll their children in preschool.
- Partner with local preschools and conduct community outreach to educate and enroll children.
- Encourage attendance and evaluate elementary school readiness
This program complements educational fundamentals of reading literacy, comprehension, and math with a biblical based view.
- Our curriculum based program is directed by licensed teachers and supported by volunteers and mentor parents.
- Student progress and grade-specific goals are tracked by the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) and Early Grade Mathematics Assessment (EGMA) which are internationally recognized, standardized tests.
- Church and school gardens are implemented as a practical and resourceful learning tools.
Discipleship Programs
One Hope and AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) discipleship programs bring new life to our partners’ children’s ministries.
“Our children are so engaged with the Awana curriculum that they bring the lessons and activities back home to their families, their neighbors, and even their schools—they are evangelizing.” — After School Education Program teacher
THE LUCHT FAMILY: BUSINESS IMPACT GIVING IN ACTION
When David and colleagues rang the opening bell at NASDAQ celebrating their company’s IPO, he leaned to his partner and committed: “We are going to help children in Nicaragua.”
David and Mary (North Carolina) have invested in Nicaraguan children since 2011 through corporate social responsibility initiatives and personal giving. After multiple gift partner trips, they embraced our child transformation model and inspired colleagues to join their efforts.
In 2016, the Luchts’ strategic philanthropic partnership launched Nourish International’s, formerly ORPHANetwork’s, After School Education Program (ASEP), providing educational reinforcement for elementary school children served through our Local Church Partnerships in Nicaragua.
